Railview is a High-Tech research-based SME based in the North East of England.  We have taken conventional GPR and developed an algorithm to develop and visualise the subterranean environment looking at assets in order to monitor their condition.  These are effectively X-ray specs for infrastructure.  Using specialised bespoke software to accurately control the transmitter and receiver the algorithms produce 3D images of the subsurface infrastructure assets. 

Railview won the North East Idea of the Year 2019 award at the North East Innovation Awards in November 2019 and is a contender for the National Finals. The organisation also won the Federation of Small Businesses Micro Business of the Year 2020 Award.

Ground Penetrating Radar for The Rail Industry

We are advancing the quality of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for underground areas in rail infrastructure such as ballast, sub-ballast (including drainage systems), sub-grade, tunnel linings and tunnel track systems, retaining walls and bridge surface structures and water pipes/utilities,. Gathering images and interpreting the results is a difficult task and our algorithms are constantly being tested and developed to produce better images.

GPR Infrastructure Monitoring Services

Providing a GPR survey requires a skilled operator with a GPR licence to perform surveys: the interpretation of radargrams is generally non-intuitive to the inexperienced eye.  A high level of expertise is required to design, conduct and interpret an effective GPR survey. 

At Railview we have experienced GPR licenced operators who can survey various underground issues in several areas:
